What is AQUALYX™?

AQUALYX™ is an injectable, hydrous, micro-gelantuous solution, which is biocompatible and biodegradable. Also referred to as fat dissolving injections, AQUALYX® causes the dissolution of fat cells, after which the body then expels the released fatty acids naturally.

AQUALYX™ is a complex containing detergent from the desoxycholate family that has been physically modified in order to reduce the biological half-life and the sugar-based slow release system results in minimal side effects.

The ingredients are an polymer from 3, 6-Anhydro-L-Galactose
and D-Galactose, buffer systems, sodium salt of (3α, 5α, 12α) – 3, 12-dihydroxy-5-cholan-24-acid, water for injection purposes and sodium chloride.

Where is AQUALYX™ made?

Following its development 2002-7 by Professor Motolese, AQUALYX™ was launched in 2009 by the manufacturer Marllor, Italy. More information is available from their website: http://www.marllor.it

How is the AQUALYX™ treatment conducted?

Using thin, flexible cunnulas, AQUALYX™ is injected directly into the subcutaneous fat tissue. The treatment is virtually painfree, as fat tissue is almost free of cannula and AQUALYX™ contains an additional local anaesthetic.

Immediately after the injection the affected area may redden and swell to a slight degree. As with any treatment with a hypodermic needle, minor haematoma might develop. All these are expected side effects that abate within a couple of days after the treatment.

How does AQUALYX™ work?

The solution is injected into the fat through a special AQUALYX™ sharp cannula using a unique trained technique. Usually 2 injection spots are required per region with the amount of product used differing according to the area of fat being
treated.

Lidocaine can be added to the solution before injecting to improve patient comfort levels; the treatment is relatively painless with a warm sensation, itching, slight burning, slight oedema and reddening appearance for 1-3 days within the treated
area.

The number of treatments required can vary dependent on the area/amount being treated with as little as 1 or possibly 2 treatments required up to 8; repeat treatments occur every 4 weeks.

How many treatments are required?

The amount of treatments varies according to the desired degree of amendment, the dimensions of the fat deposit and the individual reactions of the fat tissue.

On average you will have to expect around 3 to 5 appointments, with
3-week intervals, until you can actually perceive the results. A treatment with AQUALYX™ does not result in weight loss. Healthy nutrition as well as an exercise regimen are an absolute necessity to ensure success of the treatment.

From today’s scientific knowledge no dissolved fat cell will ever return or be redeveloped by the body. Nevertheless remaining fat cells can dramatically increase their size. Therefore it is important to stay on a balanced nutrition protocol and keep on moving.

We recommend a balanced nutrition protocol and regular exercises. The application of ultrasound right after the injection treatment will support the success as well. Helpful are also lymph drainage, the intake of amino acids and the so-called pressure therapy.

If you eat anything you want the dissolved fat will simply appear on other parts of your body or remaining fat cells will increase their size. The success of any fat method dissolving (AQUALYX, liposuction, cryolipolysis) is dependent on a balanced nutrition protocol.
