temple augmentation

What is temple augmentation?

As we get older, our face moves from the “inverted triangle” shape of youth, to the more “triangle” shape of maturity. This is caused by numerous actions; the shrinking of the bone, laxity of the ligaments in the face, reduction in collagen production, and elasticity of the skin. These changes lead to the formation of “jowls” at the lower third of the face and hollowing of the temples at the upper third of the face.
To try and restore the “inverted triangle” shape of youth, we can carry out various procedures. One of these is temple augmentation.

What are the benefits of temple augmentation?

Injecting dermal filler into the temples not only helps to plump the area where volume loss has occurred, but also helps to lift the skin of the lower face, helping to improve the appearance of jowls.

How much does it cost?

From £265

(£265 for the first ml, then £250 for every ml used in the same sitting thereafter)

How does temple augmentation work and will it hurt?

The filler is placed into the temple region using a cannula. This is an instrument that is longer than a needle but is blunt ended. A small port hole to pass the cannula through is made by a needle, but after that nothing sharp is used. Due to the use of a cannula, the procedure is very well tolerated without the use of a numbing agent.

Are there any side effects?

Common side effects can be bruising, bleeding, tenderness, lumpiness, swelling to the area for a few days following administration of the filler, but this generally settles by itself within a few days.

How long will my appointment take?

The appointment takes approximately 30 minutes in total.

How much filler will I need?

The amount of filler used will depend on the volume looking to be replaced but is normally between 1-2ml.

Temple Augmentation FAQ’s

Your practitioner will provide you with aftercare to minimise risk and promote a speedy recovery from any expected side effects. Nevertheless, most people are able to continue with normal activities with immediate improvement in their appearance. On the other hand, some may have bruising, bleeding, tenderness, lumpiness, swelling to the area. Any swelling and bruising may be more apparent the following day. Make up should not be worn for 12 hours. You will be advised to avoid alcohol, exercise, sunbathing and extremes of heat or cold for 14 days post treatment.

The results of dermal filler can be seen to some degree immediately, with the full effect being seen after two weeks.

The results of dermal filler typically last 9-12 months.
