Long, short, pointy, rounded, under projected, chiselled, square, weak, strong, creased…are just some of the terms related to our chins!

Despite it being a small percentage of our overall face and appearance, our chins are one the most commonly noticed things by us and others. So, if there is something we don’t like about our chins, the likelihood of it annoying us every time we look in the mirror is high!!

But we don’t need to suffer in silence!

Botox and filler can be quick and simple to help correct most issues that people have with their chins. Depending on what the issue is for the individual concerned, will depend on whether botox or filler, or a combination of both products are used to help to treat it.

Chin treatment with botox

Botox is injected into two areas of the tip of the chin; just slightly off the mid centre, as the muscle actually bifurcates (splits into two) at the tip of the chin. Injecting botox here can help to relax the muscle of the chin. As a result, a curved, short chin can be elongated and chin creases and bumps can be “ironed” out.

Chin treatment with filler

Filler can also be used to help augment the chin area. Unlike botox, that helps to relax the muscle, filler is used more to sculpt and help produce a new more preferred shape to the chin. This may involve placing filler at the tip of the chin to elongate or make the chin appear pointier. It can also involve placing filler anteriorly to help with forward projection of the chin. If the chin was felt to be too narrow, it can be placed more laterally to help to square the chin off more.

Chin treatment with both botox and filler

If a combination of both is done, we would first place the botox, and then place the filler two weeks later, once the botox has had time to produce its result.
