Scaffolding

If you have ever been to see me at one of my Underlining Beauty clinics, you will no doubt have heard me use the word “scaffolding” far too often, given we are an aesthetics company and not a builder’s merchant!

So, what do I mean by the word “scaffolding?” Why do I use it so frequently during my consultations?

As we age, numerous changes occur:

  • Our skin loses collagen and elasticity
  • Our ligaments become more lax
  • Our fat pads shift downwards and our bony skeleton becomes smaller

The combination of all of these things leads to an overall downwards movement of our faces and they begin to look “bottom third heavy” or more rectangular. In order to try and move away from this rectangular shape and back towards a more youthful inverted triangular appearance we need to install some “scaffolding”!

We can use filler as scaffolding because typically it is more dense than the rest of our subcutaneous tissues. This means it has a volumising and lifting potential. It can restore height to where it has been lost such as the cheeks.

By increasing this height again, the skin is then more stretched and the whole of the lower face begins to lift slightly and the jowls less obvious. There are many ways we can use filler to “scaffold” our skin and give us our youth back. To find out more about how we could help for you, why not contact us for a free, no obligation, face to face consultation and we can discuss your individual needs further.
