Jaw contouring at Underlining Beauty

Jaw / Jowl / Neck Line Contouring

What is jaw contouring?

Jaw contouring is a liquid lift of the lower face, a muscle-freezing toxin is injected into the muscles that pull down your jaw line. The injected toxins stop activity in the nerves that causes these muscles to move. This lifts the jowl and jaw line, causing to have a more contoured appearance. Filler can also be used at certain points along the jaw line, to help lift and define.

Another name for a jowl or jaw line lift is the Nefertiti Lift, after the ancient Egyptian queen.

Jaw Contouring FAQ’s

We will advise you on aftercare before and after your appointment

There aren’t any major activity restrictions after your treatment. You can return to work or run errands after your injections, but don’t engage in strenuous exercise for 24 hours. We discourage flying for a day after injections and facials discouraged for 2 weeks following treatment. It may take a few hours for the injected toxin to “settle” and take shape. For this reason, avoid touching the treated area for a few hours. Don’t lie down for four hours after treatment.

At Underlining Beauty we will explain risks and side effects in detail

We will discuss all risks and complications with you at the consultation and prior to any treatment being agreed. Your practitioner will administer Botulinum Toxin and Hyaluronic acid as we are healthcare professionals with specialist training. Side effects include: Bruising, swelling at injection sites, redness at injection sites, headache or a sensation of ‘tightness’ or ‘heaviness’. Adverse events are uncommon, they usually occur within a few days of treatment and are expected to be temporary. Your practitioner will provide aftercare advice designed to minimise risk and promote speedy recovery from any side effects.

Top ups

The maximum effect of the anti-wrinkle injections should be seen after two weeks. If after this time, you are not satisfied with the results, a follow up appointment can be made with your practitioner and if needed, a free “top-up” injection(s) can be given. Top ups are not normally required with Dermal Filler.

The anti-wrinkle injections are administered using a small, thin needle. To further minimise the discomfort felt, your practitioner will change the needle between each area.

Although the treatment is therefore not pain free, it is usually very well tolerated by all clients and most refer to it as being less painful that having their eyebrows waxed for instance. Before Dermal Fillers are injected a topical anaesthetic (numbing) cream is applied to the skin.

The Dermal Fillers also contain some local anaesthetic. Both of these things help to minimise the discomfort experienced during the treatment.

There is nothing that you need to do prior to the treatment. After the treatment there are a few “do’s and don’ts” – this will be fully explained to you by your practitioner and a written copy of our aftercare advice will be given to you at your appointment.
