I want it all…why won’t you let me?!
By Dr Rachael Syvret
A lot of people worry about dipping their toe into having aesthetic work done as they worry that one treatment will lead to another, which will lead to another. And while it is easy to see how this can become the case, I am here to reassure you that at Underlining Beauty, we will never let you over step the mark.
So, why is it that people progress from having one type of treatment to having multiple?
I suppose it’s like with anything really, we become more confident. As we have one treatment successfully, it makes us feel more confident to explore other treatment options. It also makes us look at ourselves in a more critical way as we are awaiting the results of a treatment, and we start to notice other things that bother us. We also start to feel like when one area has a great youthful and rejuvenating effect, we want the rest of us to match with this.
The combination of the above means that patients can often start adding more and more options to their aesthetic repertoire. And whilst on the whole this is not a cause for concern, sometimes things can go too far.
Underlining Beauty
At Underlining Beauty, I feel it is so important that we as aesthetic practitioners are the gatekeeper of our treatments. A client may come to us explaining their concerns, but it is our job to give an honest and objective opinion about whether or not the client should undertake a treatment. We can be the person giving an outsiders perspective on what will look good and what not so good.
Love Island star, Faye Winter, recently opened up about her dislike of her excessively overfilled lips from a non-medic practitioner. She had the old filler dissolved and then re-filled subtly by a medical professional.
In my opinion, so many aesthetic clinics are happy to carry out any treatment to any client and take their money. I feel that this is not only an immoral way to practise but also a very short-sighted business model.
At Underlining Beauty, we pride ourselves on giving our honest opinion and turning down clients for certain treatments that we feel may not benefit them or could even by detrimental to the way they look. By giving our patients the confidence that they can trust us not just to up sell, it means we have clients that continue to return year after year.
