Dermal fillers are the treatment of choice for you if you are over the age of 18 and have facial lines affecting the lower half of the face. Especially around the nose to mouth and jaw area.
Differing to anti-wrinkle injections, they physically plump out lines rather than relaxing muscle contractions. This means they work great for lines that are caused by gravity and a loss of firmness of the skin.
As we age, our skin looses collagen. Collagen is one of the proteins that helps make up the lower layer of the skin. With a decrease in collagen, the skin is not as firm or plump and it is therefore more prone to wrinkles.
Injections with dermal fillers can help to restore volume to the face by physically plumping out lines and wrinkles.
At your appointment you will meet with one of our practitioners. After that, you’ll discuss what you hope to achieve. Finally, you will fill out a medical history and consent form.
Your practitioner will then cleanse the skin and apply some topical anaesthetic (numbing cream) to the areas to be treated. This takes approximately half and hour to work. After this time the cream will be removed and the injections carried out.
What can I expect for results?
Dermal fillers are a way of helping to plump out and rejuvenate skin that has lost some of its elasticity. The amount injected is enough to give a natural looking “lift” to the skin without changing the shape or contours of the face.
Where about are the injections given?
Injections with dermal fillers are mainly given to the lower facial lines such as the lines between the nose and mouth and lines around the jaw area. This is where the skin tends to loose its firmness.
How long does the treatment last?
The treatment lasts between 6-9 months
Will the treatments hurt?
Topical anaesthestic (numbing) cream is applied to the skin before the injections are given. The dermal fillers also contain some local anaesthetic. Both these things help to minimise the discomfort experienced during the treatment.
